چکیده

Abstract In this study, we analyzed the ocean surface wind speed dependence of off‐nadir data from Surface Waves Investigation and Monitoring (SWIM) aboard Chinese‐French Oceanography Satellite (CFOSAT). When were analyzed, SWIM normalized radar cross section (NRCS) at most incidence angles decreased along NCEP Global Forecast System speed. This trend is consistent with that in a Ku‐band geophysical model function low (KuLMOD2S), although there was systematic bias between two. The consistency indicates quality normal terms dependence. recalibrated using numerical weather prediction‐based calibration method speeds retrieved NRCS KuLMOD2S model. Finally, retrievals as well products nadir validated collocated CFOSAT scatterometer (CSCAT) measurements. results validated, 0.5° averaged both had root mean square difference (RMSD) around 1.4 m/s compared to CSCAT winds. Moreover, winds good agreement winds, and RMSD values within 2.0 for less than 7.5°, retrieval accuracy poor larger angles. These demonstrate below 7.5° have an ability retrieve

WindSat Ocean Surface Emissivity Dependence on Wind Speed in Tropical Cyclones

Radiometers are adept at retrieving near surface ocean wind vectors. The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) launched the WindSat polarimetric radiometer with five frequency channels to observe the sea surface and test its ability to accurately measure the wind in various weather conditions. This study focuses on its performance in extreme conditions – the high wind and heavy precipitation of a tro...

The Research on Ocean Surface Wind Speed Retrieval by Neural Network Algorithm for HY2 Altimeter

The neural network algorithm in this paper is applied to the ocean surface wind speed retrievals. Firstly, the Ku band backscattering coefficient (σKu) is considered as the input parameter to retrieve the wind speed and the retrieval precision reaches 1 m/s (root mean square error) for HY2 altimeter. Secondly, by introducing the Ku-band significant wave height (swhku), C-band backscattering coe...

Global wind speed retrieval from SAR

The global availability of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) wave mode data from the European Remote Sensing (ERS) satellites ERS-1 and ERS-2, as well as ENVISAT, allows for the investigation of the wind field over the ocean on a global and continuous basis. For this purpose, 27 days of ERS-2 SAR wave mode data were processed, representing a total of 34 310 imagettes of size 10 km 5 km, available ...
